Our Kitchen's Glow Up

A little over a year ago our kitchen went from this...

to this...

The change is subtle, but I hope you can see the difference.

Can you see it? We finally swapped out our painted marble countertop for real marble. We originally planned to put quartz in here for its durability and stain resistant properties, but my mom and I spent several days at multiple stone yards and we just couldn't get over how beautiful the marble was...

and how boring all of the quartz looked...

So when we found some Azerocare sealed slabs that promised protection and durability we were intrigued. They weren't cheap (about double the cost of the quartz we had been looking at), but they were truly stunning.

We decided to pull the trigger and go for it. I'm planning to share more soon on the Azerocare treatment and how they have been holding up, but for now. Let's just admire the kitchen! It's finished!

One other major change we made in here was replacing the off white subway tile backsplash with the Bedrosians Chloe ceramic tile. It's seriously so stunning. I also had the idea to take the tile up all the way in the corner behind the sink and it turned out so good. Best. Decision. Ever.

I'm sure we will make some tweaks to the kitchen in the future (these cabinets could use a fresh coat of paint), but for now we are just enjoying this kitchen. We won't be taking it for granted for one second.

Your kitchen transformation is absolutely stunning! I love how you balanced timeless elegance with warmth — the real marble countertops and the Bedrosians Chloe tile completely elevated the whole space. The detail of carrying the tile all the way up behind the sink was such a smart design choice. Your style feels both classic and cozy at the same time.

Jennifer Laura, wow—your kitchen glow-up is pure magic! That shift from dated laminate to those stunning marble counters has me obsessed; it's like the heart of your home got a luxurious soul upgrade overnight. I totally get the before-and-after thrill—my own tiny London flat kitchen was a '90s nightmare with chipped tiles and zero charm until I rolled up my sleeves last autumn. Swapped the peeling vinyl for peel-and-stick terrazzo (budget win!), added open shelving for my thrifted pottery, and painted the cabinets in a soft sage to mimic that grandmillennial vibe you nailed so perfectly. Suddenly, whipping up pasta felt like a spa day instead of a chore. Your tips on sourcing affordable brass hardware and layering textures are…

It feels like a good mix of DIY inspiration and practical tips that anyone could try without needing a massive budget or skills. And while we’re talking about tackling projects and staying on top of things,…
